Brawl at the Southern Provincial Council

Colombo (News1st): The meetings conducted by the Southern Provincial Council and the Attanagalla Pradeshiya Sabha ended in brawls today (October 09). This tense situation occurred at the Southern Provincial Council when UPFA Provincial Councilor Channa Saaliya arrived at the council wearing a necklace made of Moringa leaves. UNP Southern Provincial Councilors T.E.V Gamini and Ashoka Dhanawansa who were outside the Chamber attempted to prevent him from entering the premises. Following the commencement of the meeting, the UPFA  Southern Provincial Councilor Chamila Vidanaarachchi charged that a member of his party had been assaulted and the other members of the UPFA gathered in the middle of the chamber supporting this statement. The News1st correspondent at the location reported that the UNP Southern Provincial Councilors oppose them, following which a tense situation arose between the two parties which lead to a brawl. The Chairman temporarily suspended the council.
