Appropriation bill to be presented in parliament today

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The appropriation bill specifying the allocation of state funds to the respective ministries is to be presented in parliament today (October 09). The bill will be presented by the Minister of Finance and Mass Media, Mangala Samaraweera. As per a communique issued by the Ministry of Finance and Mass Media a sum of Rs. 2057 billion will be allocated for debt servicing. The Ministry added that this was the highest amount allocated for the repayment of debt in the history of Sri Lanka. According to the appropriation bill, the total government expense for 2019 stands at Rs. 4376 billion. The budgetary proposals are due to be presented to the parliament on the 05th of November.
