More than 10,000 affected by adverse weather

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Rainy conditions have continued to impact the day-to-day activities of people in several parts of the country. The Centre for Disaster Management stated, that more than 10,000 people have been affected by the adverse weather conditions. Low lying areas in Thebuwana, Warakagoda, Nahalla, Bombuwala, and Ingiriya were flooded due to the overflowing of the Kalu Ganga. However, the News 1st correspondent in the area said, that the water levels in those areas have decreased in comparison to yesterday. Meanwhile, several houses in Sravasthipura were also inundated due to heavy showers. When News1st inquired from the Director of the Department of Irrigation in Anuradhapura, Prasanna De Silva, he said the department will evaluate the situation and take appropriate actions.
