COLOMBO (news 1st) - Ministry of Power and Renewable energy says electricity supply has been interrupted in several areas due to the prevailing weather condition.
Media spokesperson Sulakshana Jayawardhane said nearly 3500 families have been affected by power failure in Kalutara, Baduraliya, Matugama, and Agalawatta
750 houses in Peradeniya, Kadugannawa, Galaha and Galagedara are also experiencing power cuts.
Personnel of the tri forces have been deployed for rescue and relief operations due to prevailing heavy storms.
Media spokesperson Sumith Atrapattu said that 60 personnel have been deployed to the parliament premises.
A number of 40 Army officers have been sent to Galle, Pitigala, Udugama and Yakkalamulla areas.
