Colombo (News1st): The tenure of the Central Provincial Council will end tomorrow (October 08). An official of the Elections Commission said the authority of the provincial council will be handed over to the Governor of the province.
The tenure of office of the Southern and Western provincial councils will end on the 10th and 21st of April next year while the Uva provincial council ends on the 8th of September next year.
The provincial council delimitation committee says that the date on which the delimitation review report could be handed over cannot be announced as yet. A member of the committee said that the reviewing process of the report is underway.
The Delimitation review committee recently took steps to obtain party leader’s views.
Accordingly, the party leaders have expressed their views in favor of the preferential system to be followed for the upcoming provincial elections.
