Showers or thundershowers in most areas of the island today

COLOMBO (News 1st) - According to the Department of Meteorology, showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of the island today (October 06). Heavy rainfall of about 150 mm could be expected in several areas in the Central, Uva, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western and Western provinces. While rainfall over 100mm could be expected in some areas of the North Central and Southern provinces and also in the Mannar and Vavuniya districts. There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. The department issued a warning to the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning.
