PM of Sri Lanka and Norway issue joint statement on marine life conservation

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Prime Minister of Norway, Erna Solberg together with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe issued a joint statement today (October 06). Both countries share a strong and common interest in the sustainable management and use of our oceans and the blue economy.  The statement says that Norway and Sri Lanka share a similar conviction on prioritizing the conservation of the fragile marine environment. It states Norway and Sri Lanka both value the importance of free trade and open and secure access to international waters. The statement added that Sri Lanka is well positioned to become a trading and maritime hub. Norway also invited Sri Lanka to participate in the ‘Our Ocean Conference’ to be held in Norway in October 2019.
