Ranjan writes to the ICC questioning Sumathipala's eligibility to hold office at SLC

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Deputy Minister of Social Empowerment, Ranjan Ramanayake in a letter addressed to the International Cricket Council's Chief Executive Officer Dave Richardson has sought clarification regarding the eligibility of Thilanga Sumathipala to hold office in the Sri Lankan Cricket Council. The letter states that Thilanga Sumathipala is a well known businessman with interests in newspaper publishing, gaming and trading sports goods and that he is directly or indirectly involved in gambling through his family business. Ranjan Ramanayake as a member of the Sri Lankan parliament and a campaigner for good governance earnestly requests to know if the ICC is satisfied with the suitabilty of Sumathipala to hold office at SLC. The Deputy Minister also seeks to know if the ICC had ruled Sumathipala to contest for the 2016 elections at SLC.
