Colombo (News1st): Issuing a release, Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) said it wishes to highlight the need to ensure transparency and public scrutiny in the process of investigating serious allegations of corruption at Sri Lanka Cricket. TISL made this statement in response to a statement by the General Manager of the International Cricket Council's Anti Corruption Unit Alex Marshall. TISL Executive Director Asoka Obeyesekere said, “Whilst we are aware of the need to protect information that may be seen as prejudicial to ongoing investigations, it is also important that the ICC informs the public of crucial findings. This will ensure that the cricket loving public is recognized as key drivers in the demand for integrity in Sri Lankan Cricket”. TISL said it is crucial that the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit works closely with the relevant law enforcement agencies in Sri Lanka to strengthen investigations and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
