Crime raises it's head in Sri Lanka.

Colombo (News1st): An individual was shot this morning (October 3) in a forest reserve that comes under the Udamalala Wildlife Department. The News1st's correspondent in the states that the victim was seriously injured and was admitted to the Hambanthota General Hospital. The victim was identified as 'Jumbo' who was currently out on bail after being charged with murder and theft. Body found in Dadalle beach identified The body found in a Pandanus bush along the Dadalle beach in Galle has been identified to be that of a 12-year-old girl who lived Godakawela, Rathnapura. The body was identified by the parents, in the presence of the Acting Magistrate of Galle Keerthi Uduwella. Although the death is assumed as a case of suicide, it is yet to be confirmed whether it was a murder. The police media spokesman's office stated that the parents had lodged a complaint on the 28th of September with the Godakawela Police regarding the disappearance of their child. The body was taken to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for the post mortem examination. Shooting at Tengalle  Two suspects were arrested in connection with the shooting that took place a few weeks ago, at a vehicle service centre in Tangalle. The suspects were produced before the Tangalle magistrate and will be remanded until the 17th of september . Government's Stance Speaking to News1st Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe revealed that the minister in charge of the police was instructed by the president and the prime minister, to implement strict measures to eradicate underworld activities. He added that if it wasn't for the support from certain senior police and politicians, the underworld would not survive more than three to six months. Minister Rajapakshe added that this is a problem faced for the past thirty to forty years and the governments have not yet identified a way to end it. He added that the 19th amendment was brought forward to establish the police as an independent commision and the government is now questioning whether the police established as an independent commision, is a house made for elders, to relax and live in comfort.
