26-year-old injured in Beruwala shooting

COLOMBO (News 1st): A 26-year-old male was injured in a shooting in Pannila, Beruwala last night (October 3). An unknown gunman crossed the path of the victim last night in a car and opened fire at the rider and the pillion rider. One person was injured while the others managed to flee the scene. The gunmen had fled thereafter taking the motorbike away with them. Police have now arrested three men and two women in connection to the incident. The injured 26-year-old is currently being treated at the ICU of the National Hospital. Among the arrested are those with suspected links to the Southern Underworld. Investigations have revealed that the shooting was carried out in an attempt to steal the motorbike and use it to commit a number of crimes. Five Police teams are conducting further investigations into the incident.
