ICC begins corruption probe into Sri Lanka Cricket

Colombo (News1st): The International Cricket Council has begun investigations into allegations of corruption at Sri Lanka Cricket. General Manager of the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit Alex Marshall and his team are currently in Sri Lanka to conduct the investigation. Issuing a statement Alex Marshall said his team provided a detailed briefing to the President, Prime Minister and Sports Minister. The statement also noted that they are receiving the full support of the Competent Authority currently in place at Sri Lanka Cricket whilst elections for the SLC Board are pending. Marshall said that the investigations have been underway for a considerable time and do not relate to the series about to start in Sri Lanka against England. However, he says he will take the opportunity to brief both the teams over the coming days to ensure they remain alert to the risks from would be corruptors.
