Army to be given legal rights to eradicate drug menace

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Commander of the Sri Lankan Army, Liuetenant General Mahesh Senanayake states that the drug menace is one of the key issues affecting the country. Liutenant General Senanayake continued to say that as the Sri Lankan Army they have played an instrumental role in overcoming this issue in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan Intelligence Agencies have strengthened their networks across the country as well as beyond the boundaries of Sri Lanka. He added, that the government hopes to give legal rights to the army to tackle the drug menace. The army commander expressed these views following a ceremony held at the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya in Anuradhapura to celebrate the 69th Army Day.
