Colombo (News1st): The Speaker says he has referred a request made by the Joint Opposition to convene an emergency session of Parliament, to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. The announcement says the Prime Minister has the power the summon Parliament as per Standing Order 16. The Office of the Speaker had accordingly forwarded the letter addressed by Joint Opposition Parliamentary Group Leader Dinesh Gunawardena to the Prime Minister requesting Parliament to be convened immediately in order to discuss on the current crisis in the country.
