President Sirisena to address 73rd session of UNGA tomorrow

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly will begin today (September 24) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. This year's UNGA session is themed, “Making the United Nations Relevant to All People: Global Leadership and shared responsibilities for Peaceful, Equitable and Sustainable Societies.” Representatives from 193 countries of the United Nations will take part in this year's UN General Assembly. As the assembly's new president, Ecuador's former foreign minister Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garces will lead this week's annual general debate which would take place for nine days. International Media reports suggest that diplomats will be focusing their discussions on world peace at the top of the agenda. President Sirisena will be one of the prominent speakers at the Nelson Mandela Peace Summit, the most important global peace event organized on the sidelines of the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly. The President will address the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly tomorrow (September 25). This will be his fourth consecutive annual address to the world body.
