Colombo (News1st): The Consumer Affairs Authority has decided to take legal action against the company which decided to raise the price of wheat flour by Rs.5, without the consent of the Authorities.
Issuing a communique they stated that the maximum retail price of a kilogram of wheat flour was Rs. 87. it added that legal action will be taken against those traders who sell wheat flour at a higher price.
The price of a kilogram of wheat flour was increased by Rs. 5 by the Prima Company on the 31st. The Prima Company states that tax amendments and the depreciating rupee were reasons for the price hike.
