COLOMBO (News 1st) – The daily demand for electricity has hiked up to 45 Gigawatt-hours due to the prevailing dry weather conditions.
Media spokesperson of The Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy, Sulakshana Jayawardene stated that even despite the dry weather an uninterrupted power supply could be provided.
He added that the water level of reservoirs at hydropower plants is currently at 72.5%
According to the media spokesperson, the pilot project of producing artificial rains is to be launched from next month by a special team of Thai experts.
