Colombo (News1st): According to the Police Narcotics Bureau, INTERPOL has arrested wanted criminal, Saliya Perera in Thailand.
Perera was arrested in Sri Lanka in 2013 along with 30 Kilograms of Heroin, but, fled the country that year resulting in a Red Notice being issued against him through INTERPOL.
Thailand Media reported that officers from the Immigration Bureau, the Tourist Police Bureau, the Patrol, and Special Operations Division and other agencies had been tracking the suspect’s whereabouts following a request made by Sri Lankan authorities to country members of INTERPOL.
Saliya Perera is accused of colluding with a major drug trafficking gang. The Police said the Criminal Investigations Department and the Police Narcotics Bureau are in diplomatic level talks to extradite the suspect to Sri Lanka.
