Colombo (News1st) - Former Presidential Chief of Staff Dr. I. K. Mahanama and Former Chairman of State Timber Corporation Piyadasa Dissanayake, who were arrested for soliciting a bribe of 20 Million Rupees, were further remanded until the 18th of September. At today's hearing, counsel for the defense alleged that the bribery commission is delaying the investigations on the matter. Earlier court directed the Government analyst to conduct a forensic voice analysis on the two suspects and produce a report to court. This is because audio recordings of telephone conversations the two suspects had with an Indian nation to solicit the bribe were produced as evidence in court. The bribery commission informed the court that the suspects had given samples to the Government analyst by changing their voices. Court was informed that personnel from the Government Analyst's Department were prepared to obtain voice samples in both English and Sinhala, however, the suspects had stated that they are not fluent in English.
