Colombo (News1st) -  Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera says that they will increase the number of kilograms purchased from a single farmer. Currently the Government only purchases up to 2,000kg from a single farmer, however, the Minister states that this figure will be increased to 3,000kg. Speaking at an event in Ambalangoda he added that they used a few methods to make things easier for the farmers to sell their paddy to the Paddy Cultivation Board. Minister Amaraweera said that previously they had given the opportunity to sell their paddy without a letter of recommendation from the Preliminary Investigation Officers of the Board. He states that another opportunity has been given, by increasing the limit of selling paddy by another 1000 kg.
