18-year-old dies following an elephant attack

Colombo (News1st): An 18-year-old was killed due to an Elephant attack this morning in Malayarkattu, a border village between Ampara and Batticaloa. The threat of the human-elephant conflict has escalated to a level where area residents are forced to abandon their houses as they cannot live in constant fear. The villagers explained to the Gammadda Door to Door team that is touring the area today that they are in dire need of an elephant fence to safeguard their lives and what little belongings they have.
