Railway engine drivers to be trained in India

Colombo (News 1st)  - A program to create awareness among the officials of the Govijana Seva Department was held under the auspices of Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera today (August 25). Journalists questioned the minister about the railway strike action following the event. Minister Mahinda Amaraweera stated that the railway employees launched a strike in a backdrop where discussions were held and an agreement was reached to resolve the issues within 2 months. He stated that it is common knowledge that no one will be assaulted nor killed for launching strike actions and the only outcome is that innocent people are burdened by this. Amaraweera went on to state that they will take the necessary steps to face situations like this. He also stated that India has volunteered to train railway engine drivers. Minister Amaraweera stated that discussions are being held to get Army officers and retired officers to serve the people if something similar happens again.
