COLOMBO (News1st) - The Delimitation Committee Report on Provincial Councils is to be debated in Parliament today (August 24).
Deputy Secretary-General of Parliament, Neil Iddawela said the debate will be held from 11 am to 6.30 pm. The leader of the House Minister Lakshman Kiriella tabled the report in Parliament yesterday.
Before Parliament commenced yesterday (August 23), the United National Party (UNP) and Joint Opposition (JO) held respective parliamentary group meetings. It was decided that both the UNP and the JO would cast their votes against the Delimitation Committee Report on Provincial Councils when a vote is called for.
According to our Parliamentary Correspondent, the matter relating to Delimitation must be passed with a 2/3 majority.
