"The Meg" delivers $ 44.5 million in debut week

"Mission: Impossible - Fallout," landed the number two slot, pickicking up $20 million in its third outing. Disney's "Christopher Robin" earned $12.4 million, putting the fantasy drama based on the characters from Winnie the Pooh in third place, according to Box Office Mojo. Coming in the fourth spot, Sony's "Slender Man," which debuted nationwide at $11.3 million. Fellow newcomer "BlacKkKlansman" debut in fifth place with $10.8 million, earning director Spike Lee his best opening in more than a decade, according to Variety. Lee's Cannes Grand Prix winning crime drama debuted on the first anniversary of the deadly Charlottesville rally.
