COLOMBO (News 1st) - Commuters using the railway services were able to get to work on time today as railway services returned to normal following the conclusion of a strike action launched by railway workers.
While most trains were operational today there were some trains that failed to make their scheduled rounds. According to the railway control room, the only train that failed to depart the Fort railway station was the 6am train bound for Polgahawela which suffered a technical failure.
Two trains that were to depart from the Chilaw station also failed to make their rounds. One train was scheduled to travel from Chilaw to Colombo while the other was to travel to Puttalam.
