400 houses constructed under Indian aid vested with public

COLOMBO (News 1st) - 400 houses constructed under Indian Aid were handed over to the public in Pudalu Oya today (August 12) by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. The village constructed at the Dunsil Estate in Pudaluoya has been named as "Mahathmaghandipuram". The event was attended by Ministers Naveen Dissanayake, Gayantha Karunathilake, Rauf Hakeem, and several other politicians. Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Tharanjith Singh Sandu also attended the event. Congratulating the beneficiaries of the housing project Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi provided his wishes via a skype message;
"..We have by now out of our total commitment for 60,000 houses in Sri Lanka completed over 47,000 houses in Sri Lanka and today we are handing over the first lot of houses built in the plantation area under Indian assistance"
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe speaking at the event stated that Mahathmagandhipuram was a special village because the people in this village enjoy all the facilities enjoyed by the rest of the Sri Lankan, he added that this is just the beginning and that more villages would be created like this in future.
