COLOMBO (News 1st) – The government has drawn its attention towards providing compensation for those injured in the railway accident in Panaliya along the upcountry railway line, between the Rambukkana and Polgahawela railway stations.
Additional General Manager of Railways, Vijaya Samarasinghe stated he had requested for reports from the hospitals where the 32 injured victims are receiving treatment.
The passengers who sustained injuries in the accident were admitted to the Kurunegala, Polgahawela, Rambukkana and Kegalle hospitals. Samarasinghe also noted that officers from the Railways Department will be sent to inquire into the condition of the injured passengers.
