GMOA launches 24 hour trade union action

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) has launched a 24-hour trade union action citing 10 issues including the Sri Lanka Singapore free Trade agreement. The trade union action commenced at 8am. Dr. Samantha Ananda, media spokesperson of the GMOA  noted that the trade union action will not affect emergency services. Meanwhile, the Association of Medical Specialists says it will refrain from all private medical services today (August 3). Chairman of the Association Dr. S.R. Wijeyasinghe said the strike will be carried out against the high tax percentage imposed on Professionals including specialist doctors through the new Inland Revenu Act.
