Gov. to introduce an insurance scheme for monks

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Government has decided to introduce an insurance scheme for Buddhist monks. Minister of Buddha Shasana Gamini Jayawickrama Perera said that the relevant proposal has been handed over to the Cabinet for approval. The Minister added that monks who study at Pirivenas and are state employees will not be included in this insurance scheme.
