Colombo (News1st) : The OIC of the Ingiriya police has been interdicted with immediate effect based on the instructions of the Inspector general of Police (IGP).

Police Media Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara noted that the order was issued in consultation with the National Police Commission.

The three police officers who were placed in remand custody on charges of illegally arresting 2 individuals have also been interdicted. The three police officers face charges of illegally arresting an army soldier and a disabled individual in Ingiriya.

Investigations into the incident are being spearheaded by the Superintendent of Police in charge of the Panadura police division.
