COLOMBO (News 1st) – Two youths died after being run over by a train at a level crossing in the Colombuthurai area in Nedumkulam, Jaffna.

Police said the incident occurred earlier this afternoon when the motorcycle, which the two youths were on, had attempted to cross the level crossing despite signals indicating an oncoming train.

Police added the train was an express train plying from Colombo to Kankasanthurai. The bodies of the victims are currently placed at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.

The victims have been identified as residents of the Ariyalai, Jaffna.
