COLOMBO (News 1st): Addressing a gathering in Kelaniya, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said, he will not support a common candidate. Responding to a question raised by a journalist on a possible presidential run by former Sri Lankan Cricket captain Kumar Sangakkara, Fonseka noted that although he is an excellent cricketer, he does not believe that Sangakkara would make a good politician. He noted that it took him 7 to 8 years to understand the workings of politics. The Field Marshal stated that he believes the candidate put forward by the UNP should be the leader or someone he selects that has done the groundwork to establish himself as a natural leader. While reaffirming that he would only support the UNP leader or someone he selects,  Fonseka noted that there is no point in supporting an imported candidate.
