HIV AIDS on the rise in Colombo

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The number of AIDS patients reported in the Western province is on the rise. According to health officials, there was a significant increase in the number of AIDS patients reported in 2017. Director of health services in the Western province specialist doctor Anil Samaranayake revealed that 70 patients have been reported from the Colombo district while 40 patients have been reported from the Gampaha district. A further 20 patients have been reported from the Kalutara district. Dr. Samaranayake also pointed out the 5 main health-related issues faced by the public in the western province. They are
  • Road accidents
  • Dengue fever
  • HIV Aids
  • Non-communicable diseases including Diabetes
  • Drugs
