COLOMBO (News 1st) - UPFA Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa claims that the Sri Lanka Navy has to pay the company that took over operations of the Hambantota Port, to maintain it's presence at the port. Convening a media briefing on Thursday (July 5th), the Parliamentarian claimed that the Hambantota Port concession agreement which was tabled in Parliament is not the same one which was signed. He charged that the Government has deliberately misled both the Parliament and the people of the country. When the MP was questioned about the party's stance over the New York Times article he stated that the stance of Mahinda Rajapaksa is that, he does not contest in America and that the Americans cannot vote for him and that he does not mind what the Americans think of him. Rajapaksa warned that if the state media continues to sling mud at them, they would initiate legal action.
