400 police officers launch Operation to crack down on Aava group

COLOMBO (News 1st) – Northern Province Senior DIG Roshan Fernando says that 400 police officers have been deployed to carry to out an operation to arrest members of the Aava Group.

He said the operation was launched in order to arrest suspects connected to several violent incidents which took place in the North recently.

Holidays of all Police officers in the Northern Province was canceled yesterday (July 04) for the next 2 weeks on the orders of senior DIG Roshan Fernando in order to successfully execute the operation.

The Aava Group is a Sri Lankan motorcycle gang, active in the Nothern Province. The group is indicated to be around 60 members, between the ages of 18 to 25.
