An attempt to take away the mace of Parliament

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has decided to adjourn today's (July 03) Parliamentary sitting, due to a tense situation that erupted inside parliamentary chambers. The session was disrupted when the MPs representing the Joint Opposition continuously called for a disciplinary inquiry to be held against State Minister Vijayakala Maheswaran. Tensions heightened during the incident while some MPs attempted to get hold of the mace. Parliamentary sittings were thereby adjourned.
