COLOMBO (News 1st) – President Maithripala Sirisena has promoted five Senior Brigadiers of the Sri Lankan Army to the rank of Major General.

The Military Headquarters said all five senior officers while serving either as support, infantry, service arms or in combat have played praiseworthy roles during the humanitarian operation and have rendered a yeoman service to the country in the fight against terrorism and separatism.

The five Brigadiers who have been promoted are, Brigadier Indrajith Vidyananda, Brigadier Thissa Nanayakkara, Brigadier Bhathiya Daulagala, Brigadier Shantha Thirunavakarasu and Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya.

In line with this, the Head of State also promoted 34 Captains of the Army to the rank of Major.
