Postal workers call off the Work to Rule campaign

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Posts says letters that have been collected during the strike by Postal employees, will be distributed by next Wednesday (July 4). Post-Master General, Rohana Abeyrathne said a formal plan will be initiated for this. As of now, there is a backlog of 5 million letters at the Central Mail Exchange in Colombo. Meanwhile, Convenor of the Joint Postal Trade Union Collective, Chinthaka Bandara said the "Work to Rule" trade union action that was launched, in order to expedite the distribution of letters, was called off.
