30 human skeletons unearthed in Mannar

COLOMBO (News 1st) - About a year ago a bone fragment was discovered during the construction of a Sathosa building, the person who discovered this immediately lodged a complaint with the Police. Subsequently, a team of archeologists and judicial medical officers began excavating the site after obtaining a court order. 30 human skeletons and a large number of bone fragments have been unearthed in Mannar in only 22 days and the excavations still underway. Professor of Archaeology at the Postgraduate Institute of Archaeology, University of Kelaniya, Prof. Raj Somadeva stated that they cannot comment on the discovery yet.
