SLPP ready to support any one named by MR - Basil Rajapaksa

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A meeting of district representatives of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna was held in Ampara today. (June 24) The function was organized under the theme "the celebration of victory". Former SLFP Eastern Provincial Councilor T. M. Jayasena stated that he hopes Basil Rajapaksa would contest the upcoming presidential election. While noting that the ace of spades in their pack was Mahinda Rajapakse, UPFA Parliamentarian Wimalaveera Dissanayaka said he would like to see Basil Rajapakse becoming the next president. Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa himself addressed the gathering and attempted to downplay the views expressed by the speakers before him and noted that the SLPP would be ready to support any candidate named by Mahinda Rajapaksa.
