Pope appoints new Auxiliary Bishop for Colombo

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Episcopal Consecration of the New Auxiliary Bishop of Colombo Reverend Father J.D.Anthony took place today (June 23). Reverend Father J. D. Anthony was appointed as the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Colombo, by His Holiness Pope Francis. A holy mass took place on Saturday (June 23rd) to mark the occasion at St Lucia's Cathedral in Kotahena under the auspices of Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith. Reverend J.D.Anthony was born in 1958 in Pamunugama, Ja-Ela and was ordained in 1985. He also served as the Rector of the St. John Mary Vianney Major Seminary in Colombo.
