New CFO/COO for SriLankan airlines

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Vipula Gunatilleka has reportedly been recruited as the new Chief Financial Officer cum Chief Operating Officer for SriLankan Airlines. The Sunday Times reported today that SriLankan Airlines, which is going through a restructuring exercise aimed at reducing debt and preparing a business plan that would be attractive to new investors, is revamping its management team. Chairman of SriLankan Airlines Ranjith Fernando said that Vipula Gunatilleka would assume duties as the new CFO cum COO from next month. Gunatilleka, who served as CFO at Sri Lankan Airlines many years ago, currently serves as CFO and Board Member at TAAG Angolan Air Lines, Angola’s national carrier. Speaking to Newsfirst, Srilankan Airlines Chairman Ranjith Fernando said they are yet to find a replacement for CEO Suren Ratwatte who has resigned his position. Ratwatte had submitted several demands prior to his resignation whilst his term was due to officially conclude in August. A Presidential Commission of Inquiry is currently investigating alleged malpractices and large-scale fraud at SriLankan Airlines, SriLankan Catering and Mihin Lanka.
