GMOA commends Government for bill on SAITM

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Government Medical Officers' Association has commended the bill which was passed yesterday (June 20) to solve the SAITM issue. President of the GMOA Dr. Anuruddha Padeniya stated that the government has enforced the decision that they took regarding SAITM and that they put forward those proposals in 2010 highlighting how the Medical Education in Sri Lanka, University Education in Sri Lanka and Health must be taken seriously. Dr. Padeniya also stated if the proposals they presented 8 years ago were implemented promptly the damage could have been minimized and a solution could have been reached. Several members of the GMOA together with professionals also called on the Mahanayakes and Anunayakes of the Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters of the Siam Sect and briefed about the dangers posed by the Sri Lanka Singapore Free Trade Agreement. Most Ven. Anamaduwe Dhammadassi Thera Anunayake - Asgiri Chapter,  commented that it is clear certain things have been done without informing the Clergy, the intellectuals of the country or even the general public. He further added that at times they are only aware something has been done after the decisions have been made and they have been enforced.
