Colombo (New 1st) - Minister of Sustainable Development, Wildlife and Provincial Development, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka states that the mission to capture the two elephants of the Sinharaja forest reserve will continue. Upon an inquiry done by News 1st, the Minister further stated that neither he nor the officials have received clear instructions about keeping the elephants in the sanctuary. Although, according to reports President Sirisena had already given orders to the Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and the Director-General of the Wild Life Department to keep the elephants in the forest reserve until such time an effective decision has been made about them. Fonseka stated as he has not received an order to allow the elephants to remain in the Sinharaja forest he had a discussion with the President today (June 15) on the matter.
