COLOMBO (News 1st) - Convening a media briefing today (June 13), Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka made a revelation on the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant. Ranawaka stated that he was the first to make a scientific analysis of the procurement process of coal in this country and other factors concerning it. He stated that similar to the Central Bank bond scam, there have been numerous acts of fraud and irregularities during the process of importing coal. The minister went on to say that a large number of people benefited out of it, which caused 20 million people in this country to suffer through their electricity bills. After seeing this he had openly requested the President to immediately establish a Presidential Commission of Inquiry with special powers regarding coal as well. He stated that he has all the documents required with him and is ready and willing to present these facts before the Presidential Commission.
