COLOMBO (News 1st) - Additional Solicitor General Yasantha Kodagoda, informed the Court of Appeal, today (June 11th) that seeking bail on behalf of Arjun Aloysius and Kasun Palisena is not a legitimate entitlement. Kodagoda pointed out that the revision bail application had been made to revise the orders given by the Fort Magistrate Court and the Colombo High Court, which rejected granting bail.
He noted that the Court of Appeal has no power to issue such an order by considering a revision bail application. The Additional Solicitor General went on to say that the Court of Appeal has the legitimate power to consider an application if it is made to seek bail on behalf of the suspects.
Court of Appeal President P. Pathman Surasena and Justice Shiran Gunaratne decided to further examine the application made on behalf of Arjun Aloysius and Kasun Palisena, on the 04th of July.
