Sri Lankan ends successful campaign at Asian Junior Athletics Championships

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Sri Lanka had a successful showing at the Asian Junior Athletics Championships which concluded today, having won 3 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 2 bronze medals. This was Sri Lanka's best performance in the history of the tournament. Sri Lanka had a successful final day at the tournament today winning gold in the 4 X 400 M boys relay. The Sri Lankan relay team was made up of Pabasara Niku, Pasindu Kodikara, Ravishka Indrajith and Aruna Darshana who completed the race in 3 minutes, 8.7 seconds. The girls' relay team also put on a strong showing winning bronze in the 4 X 400-meter relay. The team comprising Ishara Aditya, Sachini Divyanjali, Dilshi Kumarasinghe and Amasha De Silva, completed the race in 3 minutes, 45.16 seconds. Amasha De Silva also clocked a personal best time of 24.47 seconds to win silver in the girls 200 Meter sprint. Sri Lanka's athletes were also able to set a new Asian Junior tournament record and 4 new Junior national records. 430 athletes representing 35 countries participated in the 4-day tournament held in Gifu, Japan.
