Power failures in several areas due to strong winds

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy says power failures have been reported in several areas, due to strong winds. Media Spokesperson of the Ministry, Sulakshana Jayawardena said steps are being taken to restore the supply of power during the course of the day. Meanwhile, over 50 houses were damaged in the Maaspotha Divisional Secretariat of the Kurunegala District due to strong winds that blew across the area last night. According to the Assistant Director of the Kurunegala District Disaster Management Centre, Viraj Dissanayake the supply of power in the affected areas has been suspended as a result.
