SLFP to implement party reforms through new office bearers

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The newly appointed general secretary and national organizer of the Sri Lanka Freedom party began official duties today (June 04). The event was attended by Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, Deputy Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna and Western Province Chief Minister Isura Devapriya. Professor Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa was appointed to the post of general secretary which was previously held by Minister Duminda Dissanayake while Minister Duminda Dissanayake was appointed as national organizer. Speaking at the event General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Prof. Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa stated that when they hope to overcome the complex situation the party is in through this temporary board of office bearers. Prof. Piyadasa said that he believes that under the leadership of President Maithripala Sirisena the party's reform process will be carried out in a very short time and that it will yield results. According to Minister Duminda Dissanayake, National Organizer of SLFP, they united yesterday towards one goal and according to the party constitution, all former presidents and prime ministers are part of the advisory board. He added that Mahinda Rajapaksa was appointed to the advisory board and the public has the opportunity to ask if he will accept it or not.
