Heavy falls exceeding 100 mm to be expected

COLOMBO (News 1^st) - According to the latest weather forecast issued by the Met Department, showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North Western provinces. The forecast further noted that heavy falls exceeding 100 mm can be expected particularly in the Sabaragamuwa province. Sea area extending from Puttalam to Kankasanturai via Mannar and the sea area extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota can be rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 60 kmph. Other sea areas can be fairly rough as the wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph. Navel and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
